Tasmania Caving

Hastings Cave © frostnova

Tasmania is renowned for its many limestone and dolomite caves, which offer a remarkable underground world just waiting to be explored. The less adventurous can visit the caves at Hastings, Mole Creek and Gunns Plains, which have been developed and fitted with easily accessible pathways, offering regular guided tours. Mole Creek has even been declared an underground national park to protect its fragile ecology. The more demanding wild caves are the domain of the many local "caverneering clubs" and professional guides who can be hired to reveal their wonders.
