South Australia Murray River Trip
 |
Houseboat on the Murray © fastskybus |
A relaxing float down the Murray River is the best way to
experience South Australia's activity and scenery filled
shorelines. Almost from Adelaide to Canberra the river crosses a
huge amount of terrain through red rock canyons and untouched
wetlands. The Murray River is a historic shipping route and passing
towns are filled with local legend and tangible artefacts of their
unusual histories. The longer journeys hire a houseboat which can
be expensive but lets the attractions seemingly arrive at the
gangplank in between cocktails and snoozes. Others prefer to rent a
canoe to explore smaller inlets, a sailboat for shorter river
jaunts and of course a steam paddler to reconnect with history.
Trips start from every which-way on the Murray so just deciding to
go is the most important step.
