India Camel trekking

Camel trekking is big business in Rajasthan, especially in places like Jaisalmer and Pushkar, which are close to the golden sands of the vast Thar Desert. It is the best way to experience the desert, and camel safaris - lasting anywhere from a few hours to a few days - can easily be arranged. The camel is the only means of transportation in the remote areas of the desert, and trekkers will enjoy the peace and quiet of the sun-bleached days, and the absolutely incredible exhibition of stars that come out at night. The best time to go is between October and February, when daytime temperatures are not too hot, and night-time temperatures not too cold. Sensitive travellers are warned that the conditions in which the camels are kept are not always top-notch.
