Climate

The climate of Estonia is temperate, with warm summer weather and rather extreme winters. The temperature range between summer highs and winter lows is 70°F (30°C) and 18°F (-8°C). The northerly situation of the country means that summer days are not only warm, but also long, stretching up to 19 hours of daylight, while by contrast the shortest winter days only last about six hours. Precipitation in Estonia is limited to light summer rain showers, and occasional winter snowfalls. Snow tends to lie on the ground and the countryside remains blanketed between December and March.
