Climate

The weather in Austria is temperate and typical of central European countries. The climate in Austria varies according to season: in summer the daytime temperature is hot but nights are cool, while winters are cold with temperatures regularly below freezing in January and February. Vienna and other low-lying areas can get uncomfortably hot during July and August, while the mountainous regions are tempered by altitude and breezes. The Austrian ski season starts in December and runs until the end of April.
