Climate

As with much of tropical Africa, Angola's climate and weather changes according to the season and the region. The north has a cool dry season between May and October and hot, tropical rainy climate between November and April. Luanda, the coast and the south of Angola are more arid and the rainy season is shorter, starting in November and running until February. The average temperature in Luanda ranges from around 68°F (20°C) in August and 85°F (29°C) in January. Temperatures rarely drop much below 68°F (20°C) in Luanda and the coastal areas. In the south, the dry season is characterised by a heavy morning mist. The rainfall is generally higher in the north, inland and at altitude.
